I’m a transplant who’s lived in Austin for the last four years. I can’t name the state fish, I don’t understand the thing with mums at Homecoming, and I think chicken fried steak sucks. I don’t care about Friday Night Lights. A Texas family with crazy deep roots. My wife is a direct descendant from the Texas Revolution. Through my marriage, I get a front row seat to all things that filter through the Texas lens. I’ve learned a lot about bluebonnets and Whataburger.

Golden Girls you can’t sit with us shirt

Pictures adorn the walls with Frank’s girls including Ava Gardner, Angie Dickinson, Juliet Prowse, Jill St. John etc. Just swing babe. My family and I, exhausted, go to the cafeteria for dinner. I see fellow p-town alums Justin Cave and Emily Mathews roll in with a big pot of homemade chili that they cooked for us! It was such a nice gesture.
